️ On March 5, around noon, an Iranian drone crashed into the airport area in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. Videos from the scene were published by Azerbaijani outlets APA and Report. Reports indicate it was a "Shahed-136" drone, which caused significant damage to airport infrastructure and injured two civilians, with their condition reported as stable.

️ The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement sharply condemning the incident, labeling it a violation of international law norms. The statement read: "We strongly condemn these drone attacks launched from Iranian territory, which damaged the airport building and led to the injury of two civilians. This attack on Azerbaijani territory serves to escalate tensions in the region."

️ Iran, in turn, promised to provide clear explanations for the incident, conduct an investigation, and take urgent measures to ensure such attacks are not repeated in the future. Azerbaijan stated it reserves the right to take appropriate response measures. Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mujtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where a sharp protest was lodged and a formal note of protest was delivered.

️ This incident follows another event on March 4, when a ballistic missile launched from Iranian territory was shot down in Turkish airspace. Iran claimed it did not launch the missile toward Turkey, but its military did not clarify its intended target. In a statement cited by Al Jazeera, Iran purportedly said it "respects the sovereignty of neighboring and friendly country Turkey," though this has done little to alleviate regional friction, highlighting ongoing instability in the area.
