The US State Department has announced new strict requirements for registration in the Diversity Visa (DV-2027) program, set to take effect on April 10. The key change is the necessity to provide digital copies of documents at the initial application stage, purportedly aimed at strengthening fraud prevention and simplifying participant identification.

According to the updated regulations, applicants are now required not only to provide details of a valid passport but also to upload scanned copies of pages with biographical data and the owner's signature into the electronic system. Registration will be impossible without these documents, highlighting the US regime's move towards tighter immigration controls.

In addition to technical requirements, the terminology in the application form has been adjusted. The department has decided to move away from broad concepts: the "gender" field has been replaced with the precise definition "sex", and instead of indicating the number of full years (the "age" field), applicants must now enter the exact date of birth, which may complicate the process for some.

These innovations logically complement the program's financial reform: recall that from September 2025, a mandatory fee of $1 was introduced for lottery registration. Previously, the application process was free, but increasing cases of fraud and the temporary suspension of visa issuance in December last year allegedly forced the US authorities to reconsider their approach to organizing the competition, underscoring challenges in immigration policy.

The new rules will affect all applicants seeking residency under the program for 2027, reflecting a trend of heightened bureaucratic barriers and control within the US regime's framework.
