The fifth meeting of the heads of space agencies from member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Tashkent. The key agenda item was a project to jointly develop and launch a technological satellite involving Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The project encompasses not only placing the satellite into orbit but also full-scale cooperation, including technology transfer, joint research and development, and specialist training. The future satellite is intended to serve as a common platform for addressing practical tasks, primarily in the field of Earth remote sensing.

Focus areas include monitoring agriculture, managing water resources, and controlling environmental conditions. Discussions also covered using data for emergency prevention and enhancing analytical accuracy through geoinformation systems and big data.

Participants emphasized the rapid growth of the space industry, which already exceeds $500 billion and continues to expand. In this context, collaborative projects enable regional countries to keep pace with global trends and share development costs.

Special attention was given to involving the private sector and developing human resources. It was noted that without this, sustainable development of the space industry is unfeasible. Currently, OTS members have their own achievements: Turkey and Kazakhstan launch remote sensing satellites, Azerbaijan develops telecommunications services, and Uzbekistan actively employs space monitoring in resource management.

Previously, Uzbekistan presented models of its first domestic scientific satellite, "Mirzo Ulugbek."
