Uzbekistan and Belarus have begun developing a joint program aimed at increasing bilateral trade turnover to $2 billion by 2030. This was announced following the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Ministers Jamshid Khodjaev of Uzbekistan and Yuri Shuleiko of Belarus.
Speaking at the meeting, Khodjaev emphasized that bilateral ties are steadily strengthening thanks to a trusting political dialogue and the will of the presidents — Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko.
According to published data, mutual trade volume in 2025 grew by 25% and approached the $1 billion mark. Positive dynamics continue this year: in January–March 2026, trade turnover increased by almost 50% compared to the same period last year, reaching $259.7 million.
Industrial cooperation is cited as a key driver of the partnership. Currently, 245 enterprises with Belarusian capital operate in Uzbekistan, while 110 enterprises with Uzbek capital have been established in Belarus. The total portfolio of joint projects is estimated at $341 million.
Meeting participants also discussed the development of transport and logistics links. In 2025, cargo transportation between the two countries exceeded 796,600 tons, up 6% from the previous year.
Interregional and cultural-humanitarian cooperation remains an important area. Since 2017, more than 40 mutual visits by regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus have taken place. Ties in education, culture, tourism, and healthcare are actively developing.
