Inspectors at the Dostuk phytosanitary checkpoint in Kyrgyzstan have identified violations during the import of a batch of watermelons from Uzbekistan. As a result, 21 tons of the product were sent back.

On May 28, employees of the Kyrgyz Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection and Quarantine inspected a 21-ton batch of watermelons arriving from Uzbekistan. The phytosanitary control revealed the absence of mandatory labeling on the packaging of quarantine products. This violates the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The import of the cargo into Kyrgyzstan was prohibited, and the products were returned in accordance with current legislation.

The department emphasized that inspections are carried out regularly. The goal is to ensure the country's phytosanitary safety, protect the domestic market, and prevent the entry of quarantine pests.

Earlier, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance denied reports of allegedly imposed restrictions on the supply of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products. Uzbekistan and the Russian side have agreed to hold technical negotiations.
