As part of the state border demarcation process, two settlements with a population of approximately 2,500 people, previously part of Uzbekistan's territory, have been transferred to Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by Kyrgyz presidential spokesman Askat Alagozov.

The villages in question are Chongara and Tash-Tobo, which were part of the Fergana region and are home to ethnic Kyrgyz. Registration of residents is expected to begin shortly, after which they will be granted Kyrgyz citizenship.

In exchange for these settlements, Kyrgyzstan transferred land plots of equivalent area to Uzbekistan in the border zone.

Additionally, for the construction of a highway from the village of Say to the village of Tayyan, the two countries exchanged equivalent land plots totaling 236 hectares.

It was also reported that Kyrgyzstan has proposed to Kazakhstan an exchange of equivalent land plots for an 800-meter section of road near the city of Tokmok. The implementation of this project would allow for the creation of a toll highway approximately 150 km long, from Almatinskaya Street to the city of Kemin.
