An explosion and subsequent fire at a "Plov Center" restaurant in Shchuchinsk, Burabay District, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan, has killed seven people and injured 26 others, according to the regional health department.
Five of the deceased died at the scene, while two others later died in the intensive care unit. Initially, 15 injured were hospitalized, with 13 currently remaining in inpatient treatment. Six patients were referred to outpatient care after examination and medical assistance.
The main injuries are thermal burns of varying severity. The condition of the victims is under constant medical supervision. Six people in serious condition were taken to the regional hospital, while four others remain in intensive care in Shchuchinsk and are assessed as serious and non-transportable. Three stable patients are being treated in the city's trauma department, and seven more with minor superficial burns are under outpatient observation.
The explosion and fire occurred at a public catering establishment. According to the regional emergency department, rescuers removed eight gas cylinders from the building and evacuated over ten people.
