President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that a scientific solution has been found to address the accident at the "25 Years of Independence" field in Boysun District.

At a meeting in the regional administration, it was noted that a scientific solution to the complex technological problem at the "25 Years of Independence" gas processing complex has been identified in collaboration with partners.

"We will stop the accident and launch a project that will give a strong boost to the economy of Surkhandarya," the president said.

The meeting determined the start of design work to extend sewage systems to the centers of Muzrabot, Altynsay, Angor, Kizirik, and Boysun districts in the region.

On September 1, 2024, a hydrogen sulfide leak began during drilling at well No. 604 of the "25 Years of Independence" (M-25) field in the "Kulkamish" neighborhood of Kofrun village, Boysun District. The population of Kofrun was evacuated on September 2.

However, efforts to seal the field were unsuccessful, and on September 17, another accident occurred, resulting in 4 deaths and 11 injuries.

On March 27, 2025, another explosion occurred at the field. The Ministry of Energy reported that the well was ignited to prevent environmental damage and air pollution.

On April 24, a video circulated on Telegram channels showing the spontaneous closure of the mouth of well No. 202, from which gas was escaping. On May 5, another explosion occurred at this well.
