The lawyer of former Kyrgyz State National Security Committee Chairman Kamchybek Tashiev has filed an appeal against his conviction in the so-called 'Letter 75' case, demanding a full acquittal for the ex-security chief.

Attorney Ikramidin Aitkulov announced on July 30 that the appeal was submitted to the Bishkek City Court on July 29.

On July 2, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek found Tashiev guilty of preparing to violently seize power and sentenced him to four years in prison with confiscation of property. However, the court imposed a three-year probationary supervision, so Tashiev was not sent to prison. He was acquitted on charges of abuse of office.

Seven other individuals are also implicated in the case, including former Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev and ex-Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. All received similar prison sentences with probation. Five defendants, who had been in custody since February 2026, were released in the courtroom.

The criminal case against Tashiev was initiated after his dismissal from the post of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security on February 10, 2026. Most court hearings were held behind closed doors due to the classified nature of the case.
