On July 30, a ceremony was held in the Belarusian city of Orsha to mark the departure of the first direct freight train, 'Slavic Caravan', on the Orsha–Tashkent route, as reported by IA 'Dunyo'.

The first train, traveling nearly 4,000 kilometers along the new route, consists of 71 wagons. In total, more than 3,840 tons of cargo are being sent to Uzbekistan, including wood products, sugar, dairy and oil-and-fat products, animal feed, chemical industry goods, and other types of products.

It is noted that the 'Slavic Caravan' project not only contributes to the formation of a new transport corridor but also plays an important role in the further development of trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Belarus, increasing trade volumes, and fulfilling strategic tasks set by the leaders of the two states.

This railway route will significantly reduce logistics costs. In particular, the cost of transporting a 20-ton container will be almost 1.5 times lower compared to road transport, and delivery times will be 5–7 days.

Furthermore, the new route will create opportunities for regular supplies from Uzbekistan to the Belarusian market of sought-after light industry products, foodstuffs, fruits, and vegetables.

At the initial stage, the train is planned to run twice a month.

It is worth recalling that the project to launch the freight train is being implemented within the framework of the agreements reached on July 8-9 during the official visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus.
