Reports have circulated on social media that more than 30 citizens of Uzbekistan have been detained in Turkey's Aydin province in connection with suspicious money transfers carried out through bank cards. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has issued an official statement regarding the situation.

According to preliminary information received from the relevant departments of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, investigative actions are being carried out against about 10 citizens of Uzbekistan within the framework of this case.

The consulate's statement says that at present, some of them are being held in correctional facilities by court order, while others are in deportation centers. Another part has been released on the condition of not leaving the country, and investigative actions against them are ongoing.

It is noted that the legal measures taken against the citizens are determined based on the degree of their involvement, the amount of funds transferred through bank accounts, and other circumstances established during the investigation.

The Consulate General added that it is providing the necessary consular and legal assistance in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the citizens.

In this regard, the Consulate General urges citizens not to give their personal bank cards, accounts, and mobile banking services to third parties, and not to accept or transfer funds of unknown origin at the request of other individuals.

Providing a bank card or account for use by other persons, as well as acting as an intermediary in transferring funds of unknown origin, may lead to serious legal liability under Turkish law.

The Consulate General called on all citizens staying in Turkey to strictly comply with the country's laws and not to participate in suspicious financial transactions.
