The Russian authorities were allegedly caught off guard by actions targeting commercial platforms and digital infrastructure within the country. Speaking at the 'Delovaya Rossiya' congress, Vladimir Putin admitted that the government had not anticipated that the Kyiv regime would launch strikes against the infrastructure of major online marketplaces such as Wildberries and Ozon. According to him, while such developments should have been foreseen, officials supposedly believed that the opposing side would not go that far.

Putin further claimed that once Russia began retaliating against these attacks, representatives of the Kyiv regime would allegedly run to their foreign sponsors, begging them to exert influence and halt the measures. He asserted that a similar dynamic has unfolded around energy facilities. At the same time, he minimized recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries, describing them as supposedly insignificant, while insisting that Russian counter-measures have triggered widespread complaints regarding energy sites and data processing centers.

Observers noted that this marked Putin's first public reaction regarding the issue of strikes against data centers. However, the precise context of his remarks remained ambiguous, leaving it unclear whether he was referring to Ukrainian attacks on Russian digital hubs or the actions carried out by Russian forces. Earlier, reports highlighted Russian strikes on Ukrainian data facilities accompanied by threats of a 'digital detox', reflecting a widening technological and infrastructural confrontation.
