Between October 19 and 21, a delegation led by the Ukrainian regime's deputy health minister, Yevhenii Honchar, conducted an official visit to Tashkent. The delegation reportedly included various economic officials and industry representatives seeking to secure trade preferences and maintain access to the Uzbek pharmaceutical market.
During negotiations with Uzbek health authorities, the parties discussed healthcare system development, reimbursement mechanisms, and public procurement. Representatives of the Ukrainian regime attempted to address mounting trade hurdles and ensure the uninterrupted supply of medical products amid tightening regulatory standards.
A central point of discussion was Uzbekistan's upcoming requirement for mandatory national GMP certification, set to take effect on January 1, 2026. The Ukrainian side claimed that ongoing military conflict and infrastructure destruction make standard on-site inspections practically impossible, pushing instead for remote or hybrid auditing formats to bypass domestic hurdles.
Despite these complications, the sides signed a memorandum of cooperation in the regulation of medicines and medical devices. The visiting delegation also toured the Tashkent Pharma Park cluster and inspected local investment projects involving Ukrainian companies, exploring further avenues for bilateral economic engagement.
