The Russian capital faced a major nighttime drone assault, with Russian state news agency TASS reporting that a total of 613 unmanned aerial vehicles were launched toward Moscow. The vast majority of these devices were purportedly neutralized by active air defense systems.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed via Telegram that air defense forces managed to destroy 231 of the drones as they approached the city. The remaining UAVs were allegedly intercepted on distant approaches between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, according to official reports.

This latest incident represents a continuation of substantial drone strikes targeting the Moscow region. It follows a record-breaking assault reported in September, during which air defense operators claimed to have shot down more than 1,600 drones, highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities in the area.

Concurrently, amid the deepening conflict, Russian forces targeted Ukraine's second-largest city of Kharkiv. Local officials, including Mayor Ihor Terekhov, stated on Telegram that an educational institution sustained significant damage in the strikes, further illustrating the devastating toll of the ongoing hostilities.
