️ Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev convened a meeting of the Security Council following a drone attack on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and demanded official explanations and an apology from Iran. Reports indicate that four people were injured in the incident, escalating tensions between the two neighboring nations.
️ The head of state labeled the action as an "unjustified terrorist act" and declared that Azerbaijan will not tolerate such actions. Aliyev emphasized: "This is not the first time the Iranian side has carried out terrorist acts against Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis." However, he clearly stated that Azerbaijan is not and will not be involved in any operations against Iran.
️ The president asserted readiness to respond with an "iron fist" to any threat and pledged to keep the public informed about developments. By his order, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan—including the Ministry of Defense, State Border Service, and other special units—have been placed on combat readiness level one and must be prepared to conduct any operation.
️ Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, commenting on the drone incident in Nakhchivan, stated that Tehran does not strike neighboring countries and intends to investigate the matter. This response contradicts Azerbaijan's claims, as the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that drones launched from Iranian territory attacked objects in the region.
