An incident involving a bus and pedestrians occurred in the Sergeli district of Tashkent on March 30 at approximately 5:50 PM. According to the transport service company "Toshshahartransxizmat," the driver of a Saz LE 60 bus with license plate 01 845 ZJA, operating on route No. 104, failed to yield to pedestrians crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing on "Yangi Sergeli" Street.
Video footage shows a woman with a child already on the crossing, who quickened their pace as traffic approached. A car with a dashcam stopped in front of them, but the bus passed in the adjacent lane without stopping. As the bus drove by, personal items, including a mobile phone, fell from the woman's hands. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, but it has sparked public concern over traffic safety violations in the city.
The driver, born in 1967, has a total work experience of 15 years, including 3 years with "Toshshahartransxizmat." The incident was reviewed by the company's management, responsible employees, and representatives of the Road Safety Administration (UBDD).
Following the investigation, the driver's employment contract was terminated. The case has been officially documented by UBDD officers in accordance with established procedures. The company reminded all drivers of the necessity to strictly adhere to traffic rules and exercise caution towards pedestrians, emphasizing measures to prevent such occurrences.
This event highlights ongoing challenges in road safety in Uzbekistan's capital, where similar incidents periodically lead to public scrutiny and calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
