A traffic accident involving a bus and a 13-year-old girl on Shota Rustaveli Street in Tashkent, footage of which previously circulated on social media, has been officially clarified by authorities. According to “Toshshahartransxizmat,” the incident occurred on April 2 at 12:41 PM.
Preliminary reports indicate that a MAN-brand bus on route No. 18, traveling along the BRT lane from the Southern Railway Station towards Bobur Street, struck the girl as she was crossing the road outside a designated pedestrian crossing and against a red traffic light signal. This highlights a violation of traffic rules by the pedestrian, leading to the unfortunate collision.
Following the impact, the bus driver promptly provided first aid to the victim and called an ambulance. The girl was transported to a medical facility, where she received a preliminary diagnosis of a concussion and is currently under medical supervision. The bus sustained technical damage as a result of the accident.
The incident has been formally registered by road safety officials, and an investigation is underway to determine all circumstances. This event raises ongoing concerns about road safety in the capital, emphasizing the need for increased responsibility among both pedestrians and drivers to prevent such occurrences.
