Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent have initiated an investigation into a high-profile case of child abuse. A 41-year-old resident of the Yunusabad district has been charged with systematic violence against her minor stepdaughter.

The investigation was prompted by a video appeal from the girl herself, which spread across social media. In the video, the teenager described regular beatings and abuse by her stepmother. The situation sparked widespread public outcry, leading to the involvement of the capital's Main Internal Affairs Directorate.

According to the Tashkent Internal Affairs Directorate, the suspect repeatedly inflicted bodily harm on the 13-year-old girl. It has been established that the victim had not previously sought help from law enforcement, allowing the violence to remain hidden and systematic.

The investigative department at the Yunusabad District Internal Affairs Office has opened a criminal case against the woman under Article 110 (“Torture”) of the Criminal Code. The progress of the investigation is being monitored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Currently, the girl has been removed from the family and is placed at the Center for Social and Legal Assistance for Minors under the Tashkent Internal Affairs Directorate. She is receiving qualified psychological and social assistance. State authorities are ensuring full protection of the minor's interests during the investigative actions.

This is not the only case of child abuse by close relatives that has come to public attention recently. Earlier, an incident was reported in the Jizzakh region, where a local school director used physical and moral violence against her daughters to force them into marriage.
