The press service of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change reported that 121 trees were illegally cut down in Yangiyol city, Tashkent Region. The situation was identified during a raid conducted by employees of the regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change, with the trees being felled and removed using special equipment by the company S.B. MCHJ in the "Lazzat" neighborhood.

The damage caused to the plant world as a result of the violation was calculated based on a Cabinet of Ministers decree No. 464 dated November 22, 2022. According to the calculations, the damage amounted to 1 billion 67 million 574 thousand 400 Uzbek sum, which is double the amount applied during the period of a moratorium on cutting down valuable trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund.

Materials collected on the case have been sent to the Tashkent Regional Prosecutor's Office for legal assessment. This incident highlights the ongoing issues of environmental violations and forest protection in the country.

Previously, in Tashkent's Shaykhontohur district, it was found that 107 out of 108 illegally transplanted trees had dried up. As a result of that case, damage to nature exceeded 881 million Uzbek sum, with materials forwarded to law enforcement agencies. These examples underscore weaknesses in environmental control and the need for effective measures to safeguard the environment.
