Customs officials at Tashkent International Airport have seized 598 tablets of the synthetic drug MDMA from the luggage of a female passenger arriving from Turkey. According to a press secretary from the Customs Committee, the narcotics were concealed inside packages of peanuts.

Preliminary estimates suggest the confiscated MDMA tablets could be worth approximately $20,000 on the market. This incident raises serious concerns about evolving methods of drug smuggling and distribution within the country.

During the investigation, the woman admitted to agreeing to transport a stranger's bag to Tashkent for a payment of $35. This highlights the activity of criminal networks that recruit individuals to carry unknown items across borders for small sums of money.

The Customs Committee has issued a warning to citizens, urging them to never transport other people's belongings across the border, especially luggage from unknown persons. Authorities emphasized that such actions can lead to severe crimes, including drug trafficking and human trafficking.
