At Tashkent International Airport, a passenger was detained after agreeing to transport another person's bag from Istanbul for a payment of 35 US dollars. Customs officers discovered a large batch of synthetic drugs hidden among food items in the luggage. Suspicious objects inside a package of peanuts were identified during an X-ray scan of the baggage.
During an in-depth inspection, inspectors found 598 red tablets marked with "Marvel" among the nuts. An expert examination confirmed that the seized substance was the synthetic drug MDMA (ecstasy). The passenger claimed to be unaware of the bag's contents, but the market value of such a batch on the black market is estimated to be between 15,000 and 20,000 US dollars.
A criminal case has been initiated for drug smuggling, and an investigation is currently underway. This incident highlights the critical importance of airport security measures and ongoing challenges in combating drug trafficking in the region.
