Tashkent, April 26, 1966 – Podrobno.uz. Exactly 60 years ago, on April 26, 1966, life in Tashkent was forever divided into "before" and "after." The Tashkent earthquake became not only a severe test but also a symbol of incredible unity. This event fundamentally altered the city's history, impacting the lives of thousands, yet it also triggered a wave of aid and reconstruction efforts across the Union.

Today, six decades later, we carefully preserve the memory of those events and the people who rebuilt Tashkent from the ruins. The earthquake resulted in the destruction of a significant portion of the city center, but large-scale restoration work soon began, leading to the emergence of new neighborhoods and buildings. This process was carried out with the participation of not only local residents but also builders, engineers, and volunteers from across the Soviet Union, demonstrating a powerful example of national unity and mutual assistance.

The Podrobno.uz editorial team has prepared a special test-quiz. Do you know what time the first tremor occurred? Who helped in the construction of the new quarters? We invite you to test your knowledge and once again recall the history of the city that withstood. This quiz not only measures historical knowledge but also emphasizes the importance of preserving memory and cultural heritage across generations.
