On April 15, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Dono Bobokhonova passed away at the age of 79. She dedicated her life to theater, working for many years at the “Yosh Gvardiya” (now the Uzbek State Drama Theater named after Abror Hidoyatov). She won the hearts of audiences with performances in nearly a hundred plays, including “Ming yillik hangoma”, “Farrosh kampirning tushlari”, “Baxt eshik qoqqanda”, and “Jinlar bazmi”.

Born Danisiya Dayanovna, she entered the film industry in the 1990s, gaining fame for comedic roles in the movie “Bozor ko‘rmagan yigit” and the humorous show “Gap yo‘q”. She also acted in films such as “Chol va nabira”, “Tilla buva”, and “Tilim qursin”. In 1996, she was awarded the honorary title “Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. She is survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gazeta correspondent Mirolim Isajonov asked her colleagues to share memories. Shirmonoy Abdullayeva, actress of the humorous show “Qalpoq”, said: “In 1974, when I started working at the Yosh Gvardiya theater, Dono and I immediately connected and became close friends. Over 52 years, we never had a single disagreement.”

Rikhsivoy Aliyev, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, recalled: “Dono-apa was a devoted artist. Despite working at a major theater, she always made time for our show ‘Gap yo‘q’. She was incredibly talented, never chose roles, and fully immersed herself in every character.”

Madina Tukhtayeva, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, said: “Dono was one of the first actresses of our theater, founded in 1968. Such devoted artists are rare. Theater was her life, her husband, her children, her family.”

Sayfiddin Meliyev, actor and director, shared: “In 1999, we performed together in the play ‘Khanuma’ at the Uzbek State Drama Theater. She dreamed of playing the role of Uvaysi, and we planned to make it happen. She was even learning to play the dutar.”

The editorial board extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Dono Bobokhonova.
