The capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, has been officially confirmed as the host city for the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships for senior athletes. This marks the first time such a high-level tournament will be held not only in Uzbekistan but also in the entire Central Asian region.

The competition is scheduled to take place in June 2027 at the Olympic Stadium, located within the Olympic Village complex in Tashkent. The stadium meets modern standards and is equipped to host large-scale international events.

Tashkent 2027 will be the 13th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships and the fifth to be held in Asia. Previous hosts include Doha (2015), Dubai (2019), Kobe (2024), and New Delhi (2025).

Approximately 1,300 athletes from over 100 countries are expected to participate, making this tournament the largest international parasport event in the history of the region.

The championship program will fully align with Paralympic disciplines, covering track and field events such as running, jumping, throwing, and other para athletics categories.

It is worth recalling that to increase interest in sports among people with disabilities and to create the necessary infrastructure, a specialized Center for Paralympic National Teams will be established in Tashkent. This center will play a crucial role in preparing athletes for high-level competitions.
