Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Residents of Uzbekistan are set to enjoy extended weekends in May 2026, thanks to the observance of Remembrance and Honors Day and the sacred holiday of Kurban Hayit (Eid al-Adha).

According to a presidential decree, the holiday schedule has been adjusted to provide citizens with optimal conditions for leisure and celebration of these significant dates.

The first block of holidays is tied to May 9, which falls on a Saturday. For those working a five-day week, Monday, May 11, will be an additional day off. This means five-day workers will enjoy a three-day break, allowing them to visit relatives and participate in festive events.

The second wave of holidays will occur at the end of the month. The provisional date for Kurban Hayit in 2026 is set for May 28, which falls on a Thursday. To ensure uninterrupted rest, the presidential decree declares Friday, May 29, as an additional day off for all categories of workers. This decision will allow Uzbek citizens to rest for four consecutive days – from May 28 to May 31 inclusive.

It should be noted that the exact date of Kurban Hayit will be finally confirmed by the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan based on astronomical observations. Nevertheless, the government has already fixed the holiday structure so that businesses and state agencies can plan their schedules in advance.
