In the Pskent district of Tashkent region, officials from a water supply enterprise allegedly embezzled 14,800 meters of pipes worth over 3 billion soums (approximately $300,000), causing damages of nearly 4 billion soums, the Anti-Corruption Agency reported.
The head of the Pskent branch of JSC 'Toshkent viloyati suv ta'minoti', identified as B.K., reportedly conspired with officials from JSC 'A.' and other individuals. As a result, out of excavated pipes valued at 3.9312 billion soums, 14,800 meters worth 3.0784 billion soums were misappropriated.
Based on these facts, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes in Tashkent region has initiated a criminal case under Article 167, Part 3, Clause 'a' of the Criminal Code (Embezzlement or misappropriation on an especially large scale).
The perpetrators face fines ranging from 300 to 600 times the base calculated value, correctional labor for up to three years, or imprisonment for five to ten years.
