A tragic road accident occurred on April 22 around 9:00 PM in the Malik neighborhood of Karmana district, Navoiy region. A Cobalt car carrying two students from secondary school No. 22 in Khazara village lost control at high speed and veered off the highway.

The 9th-grade student, identified as I.Kh., died in hospital. The 11th-grade student was hospitalized with bodily injuries. The vehicle was completely wrecked.

The regional traffic safety department (UBDD) held an awareness meeting with senior students following the incident.

According to Kun.uz, the car belonged to the father of the hospitalized student. However, the hospitalized student claims he handed over the wheel to his deceased friend. An expert examination may be ordered to determine who was driving.

This comes after a previous accident in Navoiy that claimed five lives.
