Another 24 buses have been delivered to the city of Bukhara as part of the development of public transport, the press service of the Ministry of Transport reports.
The buses are being introduced to improve the city's transport system, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure environmental cleanliness and traffic safety.
The buses were brought to Bukhara by Progress Mega Trans LLC. Their make and country of origin have not been specified.
The new buses are planned to operate on the emerging network of routes in Bukhara under a gross contract scheme.
In February, 25 buses from China were also delivered to Bukhara.
According to available data, from 2023 to 2025, a total of 116 buses and 45 minibuses manufactured in China were brought to Bukhara. Under the master plan, it is planned to introduce 21 new bus routes, install “smart traffic lights” at 113 intersections, and create dedicated bus lanes on 7 central streets.
It should be recalled that since February 1, cash payments have been suspended on 7 bus routes in Bukhara. From April, it was planned to switch all routes in the city to an electronic payment system only.
