Tashkent International Airport has introduced a new intelligent system to protect aircraft from birds, according to a press release from Uzbekistan Airports.
The German AVES Airport system is a modern solution in the field of ornithological flight safety. Using artificial intelligence, it automatically detects, tracks, and repels up to 256 birds simultaneously in high-risk areas.
Special cameras can spot birds at distances up to 1,000 meters during the day and 400 meters at night. The device activates or deactivates independently based on aircraft movement and operates in all weather conditions.
To repel birds, the system uses directional sound and ultrasonic signals that change constantly to prevent birds from getting used to them. It also adjusts volume based on distance and environment, minimizing negative impact on the ecosystem.
Multiple units installed across the airfield work together to guide birds from flight zones to safe areas. The system continuously collects data for easy analysis and management by specialists.
