Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been handed a 13-match ban by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after punching an opposition player following his sending-off last week.
Andrada received a yellow card during Zaragoza's 1-0 defeat to Huesca in the La Liga 2 derby and was sent off for a second booking in the 99th minute. Instead of leaving the pitch, he ran to punch Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in the face, sparking a brawl.
The goalkeeper had to be restrained and was escorted to the dressing room by State Security Forces. Pulido fell to the ground, and a melee involving players and staff from both teams ensued. Andrada later apologized for his actions.
The RFEF Disciplinary Committee ruled on Wednesday that the offense warranted the maximum 12-match sanction, plus the automatic one-game suspension for the red card, totaling 13 matches for the 35-year-old, who is on loan from Mexican side Monterrey.
Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez, who was sent off for punching Andrada during the melee, received a four-match ban. Zaragoza's Dani Tasende, shown a red card for kicking an opponent after a VAR review of the brawl, was handed a two-game suspension.
Rayo Vallecano player Isi Palazon was suspended for seven matches for vehemently complaining about the referee in his team's 3-3 draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday. He had already been substituted and was sent off for complaining from the bench in the final minutes.
Rayo had a goal disallowed after a video review awarded a penalty to Sociedad for an earlier incident in the build-up. All suspensions are subject to appeal.
