On April 30, a meeting chaired by Energy Minister Jorabek Mirzamakhmudov at the company 'Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari' resulted in the dismissal of 44 district and city electricity supply enterprise managers.
According to the press service of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, 14 of those dismissed were from the Andijan branch of JSC 'HET', 10 from Samarkand, 7 from Jizzakh, 4 from Kashkadarya, and 2 each from Syrdarya, Tashkent, and Fergana branches.
At a meeting on April 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized these 44 enterprises, where electricity losses exceed 20%. The head of state stressed the need to appoint young personnel in their place and reduce losses by half.
The meeting identified urgent measures to eliminate shortcomings found by the Inspectorate for Control over the Use of Electricity, Oil Products and Gas under the Cabinet of Ministers. Working groups inspected the technical condition of 106,140 transformer substations, of which 25,668 were found to need repairs, and repair work has begun.
Additionally, instructions were given to update high-voltage network lines and carry out rapid modernization and reconstruction of networks in necessary areas.
The issue of accelerating the project to introduce artificial intelligence technologies to reduce electricity losses was also discussed separately.
Following an analysis of the gas supply situation, the head of the 'Hududgaz Khorezm' branch was dismissed due to serious shortcomings.
