In the Oqqorgon district of the Tashkent region, illegal extraction of sand and gravel outside the designated area in the bed of the Akhangaran River has caused environmental damage amounting to 3 billion 665 million 864 thousand 700 soums. This was reported by the regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change.
During a monitoring operation, it was discovered that a loader without license plates was loading sand and gravel from the riverbed onto a HOWO truck. When investigated, the head of LLC “K.B.T.” stated that he had the appropriate permit for sand and gravel extraction.
However, inspections revealed that excavation work was also carried out outside the area allocated to the company. Explanatory work was conducted, and survey measurements were taken with the involvement of specialists from the “Green Project” institute.
The collected documents have been sent to the Tashkent region prosecutor's office for legal assessment. Earlier in Samarkand, illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture from the Zarafshan River bed caused 422.6 billion soum in environmental damage.
