The Uzbek football community is mourning the loss of a legend. The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) announced that renowned former footballer and coach Abdusamat Dormanov has passed away at the age of 59.

Dormanov was born in 1965 in Termez, Surkhandarya region. He began his professional football career with Surkhon and later played for top clubs including Lokomotiv, Pakhtakor, and Neftchi.

He was a key member of the Uzbekistan national team from 1992 to 1994, famously winning a gold medal at the 1994 Asian Games in Japan. That victory remains one of the proudest moments in Uzbek football history.

After retiring as a player in 2002, Dormanov became a coach. He managed clubs such as Neftchi, Yozyovon Lochinlari, and Istiqlol. Since December 2015, he had been working as a coach at Neftchi.

Dormanov was awarded the title of Honored Athlete and Coach of Uzbekistan. His passing is a great loss to the entire sporting community of the country.
