According to the UN General Assembly resolution of December 20, 1993, since 1994, May 3 has been celebrated annually as World Press Freedom Day.

In the 2026 press freedom ranking, Uzbekistan ranked 147th, with the media freedom situation still described as "very difficult."

On this occasion, when discussing the Uzbek press, it is appropriate to recall newspapers and magazines born in the spirit of Jadidism, as well as their founders and passionate speakers.

Despite political pressure and repression, the views of the nation's enlighteners, who fought with the pen on the path to progress, can serve as a good guide for the government, society, and media representatives in drawing correct conclusions on many issues.

The newspaper has prepared a test based on the enlighteners' opinions on the press.
