Customs and aviation security officers at Samarkand International Airport discovered unusual items during a hand luggage inspection of a passenger traveling to St. Petersburg.
The luggage contained a lamp resembling the legendary 'magic lamp' from the tales of Aladdin, as well as two ancient coins that were not declared in accordance with regulations.
According to preliminary data, the coins may be of historical value. Experts note that in addition to a possible violation of customs rules, this could be an attempt to export cultural property.
Currently, a pre-investigation check is underway. An examination has been ordered to determine the origin of the items and their cultural and historical significance.
Earlier, customs officers at border posts in Uzbekistan prevented several attempts to smuggle jewelry. The total value of the seized jewelry exceeded 500 million soums.
