Financial sanctions for environmental offenses have been introduced in Uzbekistan, the Huquqiy Akhborot channel reports.

According to amendments and additions made by Law No. ZRU-1143 of May 4, 2026, to certain legislative acts, financial sanctions are applied for offenses in the field of ecology, environmental protection, and nature management.

For violating the procedure for cleaning riverbeds and strengthening banks, legal entities face financial sanctions in the form of a fine equal to three times the damage caused to the environment.

For water pollution, as well as for violating requirements for wastewater discharge into water bodies, legal entities face financial sanctions in the form of a fine equal to ten times the compensation payment for environmental pollution.

For failing to take legally required measures to protect and preserve trees on territory owned by or assigned to a legal entity, legal entities face financial sanctions in the form of a fine equal to five times the damage caused to the environment.

This law enters into force three months after the date of its official publication.
