A six-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan died in Istanbul after falling between a tram car and the edge of the platform as he was exiting the vehicle.

According to the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, the tragedy occurred on June 8 in the Fatih district. The boy had arrived in Turkey with his parents as a tourist. He sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.

Turkish law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation. The diplomatic mission expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and is providing necessary consular and legal assistance.

The consulate urged compatriots not to leave minor children unattended in large cities where transport and road infrastructure are characterized by high traffic intensity.

Earlier, the deaths of two other Uzbek citizens in Turkey were reported. Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old woman who allegedly committed suicide and a workplace accident at an aluminum plant in Sakarya province involving a 54-year-old man.
