The first issue of the newspaper 'Taraqqiy' was published on June 14 (June 27, new style), 1906. The issue opened with an introductory article by editor Ismail Obidi titled 'Tashkent, June 14', and also featured an article by Munavvarqori titled 'Our Anger is a Complex Anger'.
The editorial office was located at 97 Urtepa Street in Tashkent. The newspaper's motto was 'Salvation: in steadfastness of conviction; acceptance of truth'. It published critical reports and articles about the shortcomings and vices of the time, promoting knowledge and enlightenment.
'Taraqqiy' had a short lifespan. On August 21 of the same year, its 20th issue was confiscated, and Ismail Obidi was arrested on charges of interfering in politics.
To mark the occasion, the newspaper prepared a test on the history of Uzbek press.
