On the evening of February 25 in Tashkent, a 16-year-old student, Daniyar, driving a gray BMW M4, struck a traffic police officer on duty. The injured officer is hospitalized with serious injuries.
An investigation by the Interior Ministry found that the vehicle with license plate 01 021 0OC belongs to 22-year-old Leyla Atadiyanova. Since 2024, this car has accumulated 37 traffic violations and 18 instances of being driven by individuals without a driver's license.
Daniyar's parents had previously been held accountable for failing in their parental duties: first for school truancy, and in January 2024 for their son driving a BMW X5 without license plates and evading authorities.
The teenager's father, Zafarjon Kuchkunov, publicly apologized to the public and the officer's family, but experts expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of such apologies.
The Mirabad District Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under Article 266 ("Violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules"). The family faces up to three years of imprisonment or restricted freedom.
The Interior Ministry emphasized that public safety begins with parental supervision of children, especially regarding access to high-risk sources.
