President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that with effective utilization of its tourism potential, Surkhandarya Region could achieve annual revenues of up to one billion dollars.

Mountain ranges such as Hissar, Baysuntau, and Babatag offer significant opportunities for mountaineering, trekking, and ecotourism.
The ancient settlement of Old Termez and Buddhist monuments like Fayaztepa, Karatepa, Dalvarzintepa, and Zurmala could attract up to 500,000 foreign tourists annually.
The president instructed local authorities to collaborate with Japanese tour operators to develop new tourist routes and projects for a museum, Uzbek-Japanese cuisine establishments, and a Japanese garden.
Uzbekistan has been awarded the prestigious VETA Awards in tourism.
