The press service of Uzbekistan's National Media Association announced that Sherzodkhon Qudratkhodja has been dismissed from his position as chairman of the association. This decision marks a significant shift in the leadership of the media sector, as such high-level personnel changes in top management positions are relatively infrequent and could signal potential strategic realignments within the organization.
He has been replaced by Odiljon Tojiyev, who has been appointed as the new chairman of the board. Tojiyev's appointment is based on his extensive legal and political background, which may influence the future operations of the media association, particularly in areas related to digital development and information policy, given his prior roles in these domains.
Odiljon Tojiyev was born on September 11, 1984, in Tashkent City and graduated from Tashkent Islamic University in 2006 with a specialization in law. His professional career includes years of service as deputy hokim of Tashkent Region, a deputy in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and deputy speaker of the Legislative Chamber for digital development and information policy issues.
Currently, Tojiyev serves as a member of the Committee on Labor, Healthcare, and Social Issues of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, which could allow him to integrate his expertise in social and labor matters into the management of the media association. His new appointment is anticipated to bring about changes in the association's strategy and operational focus, potentially affecting media governance and content direction in the country.
