In Jizzakh Region, a traffic police officer, Senior Lieutenant F.M., was detained while receiving $700 in exchange for promising to resolve through the court an administrative case against a driver who operated a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. This incident was uncovered by the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) as part of anti-corruption measures, with operational activities conducted jointly by the State Security Service (SSS) and prosecutors.
Additionally, a legal assessment is being made regarding the actions of another officer who failed to timely submit to the court documents collected for this administrative case. In connection with this incident, the regional prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case against Senior Lieutenant F.M. under Article 168 (Fraud) and Articles 25, 211 (Attempted Bribery) of the Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained procedurally and placed in a temporary detention facility, with investigative actions currently underway.
In Andijan Region, on March 2, a 21-year-old driver, A.N., in a Gentra vehicle, hit a 5-year-old child in Bustan District, resulting in bodily injuries to the child. On March 16, the driver's father filed a complaint with the Andijan Regional Directorate of the SSS, reporting that a senior traffic police inspector, Major I.U., was demanding $500 to alter the forensic medical examination conclusion and ensure a favorable outcome, and requested legal action. Based on the complaint, operational measures were carried out on March 16, during which it was established that I.U. had received the demanded $500, with the money found in his office.
Regarding this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Clause "v" of Part 2 of Article 210 (Acceptance of a Bribe) of the Criminal Code. Previously, in Jizzakh, two traffic police officers were detained within one month, one of whom had demanded $1,500 for not filing an administrative protocol against a drunk driver.
