Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a large-scale meeting on the socio-economic development of Samarkand Region was held in Uzbekistan. The head of state congratulated residents on the upcoming Ramadan Hayit and Navruz holidays, emphasizing that the region should become a model testing ground for implementing new methods to combat poverty and unemployment.

For the comprehensive renewal of the region's neighborhoods, $100 million has been allocated, with $50 million specifically directed to Urgut District. In total, 11 trillion soums in budget funds have been mobilized, while entrepreneurs in the region will gain access to credit resources amounting to 18 trillion soums.

Special attention was paid to the industrialization of remote territories. A separate industrial development program worth 1.2 trillion soums has been adopted for Narpay, Kushrabat, Pakhtachi, and Kattakurgan districts. These funds will be used for road construction, water pipelines, and power grids, including the complete renovation of Ingichka town and the reconstruction of the bridge over the Narpay Canal. To improve transport connectivity, 500 electric buses will be delivered to the region.

The President instructed the implementation of an indicator analysis system using artificial intelligence. By May 1, technologies will analyze the resources and potential of each neighborhood in Narpay and Termez districts, based on which responsible officials will direct investments to the most effective projects. The authorities aim to achieve economic growth of at least 9 percent.

The gross regional product volume is expected to exceed 144 trillion soums, with foreign investments of $3 billion anticipated and exports projected to grow to $1.2 billion. Plans are in place to lift 31,000 families out of poverty. Amid global instability, increasing food production has been prioritized as a key objective, with ten-year loans at 12 percent annual interest allocated for livestock farming.

A $50 million meat processing enterprise will be launched in Bulungur, and a $20 million poultry farm will become operational in Kushrabat. In Bulungur District, the propagation of 250,000 mini-potato tubers from Egypt will begin, while 6,000 tons of seed potatoes from the Netherlands will be supplied to farmers without markup. Fish farms will be offered preferential loans or compensation for costs when installing solar panels.

Uzbekistan is launching an "Open Tourism Season" campaign to position the country as a safe destination. From April to June, airlines will receive a $100 subsidy for each foreign tourist. To promote the region, 50 foreign bloggers with million-strong audiences will be invited, and world star performances along with ten business forums are planned in Samarkand. The overall goal is to attract 6 million tourists by the end of the year.
