Direct flights on the Muscat-Tashkent route are planned to be launched from June 1, 2026, between Uzbekistan and Oman. This was announced during a meeting between Uzbekistan's Ambassador Abdusalom Hotamov and Oman's Minister of Heritage and Tourism Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al-Busaidi, as reported by the “Dunyo” news agency.

During the meeting, the parties discussed developing cooperation in tourism, increasing mutual tourist flows, promoting Uzbekistan's tourism potential and cultural heritage, and strengthening ties between tourism companies. The Omani side emphasized that cooperation between the two countries in tourism and cultural spheres has been steadily developing in recent years, highly praising the growth in tourist numbers to Uzbekistan as a result of ongoing reforms.

It was noted that the launch of direct flights on the Muscat-Tashkent route will serve to further increase mutual tourist flows. Additionally, an initiative to hold a Road Show event in Muscat ahead of the upcoming visit by Uzbekistan's president to Oman, focused on the country's tourism potential, was supported, with the Omani side expressing readiness to assist in its organization.

The parties also supported organizing photo exhibitions in both countries to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties. Recall that on April 2, 2025, Oman Air was officially granted an Operating License to conduct regular flights on the Muscat-Tashkent-Muscat route to Uzbekistan. For reference, on June 1, 2024, Oman introduced a 14-day visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan.
