The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported that two Uzbek nationals, who were internationally wanted through Interpol on fraud charges, have been extradited from Turkey. They are identified as 40-year-old T.R. from the Khorezm region and 38-year-old F.A. from Tashkent, suspected of committing large-scale fraud.

According to the National Central Bureau of Interpol, the 40-year-old T.R. was apprehended at Istanbul International Airport and, under the surveillance of Interpol and officers from the Khorezm Regional Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), was transported to Uzbekistan. Upon arrival in the city of Urgench, he was handed over to Khorezm Regional DIA officers for further procedural actions in accordance with Uzbek legislation.

The 38-year-old F.A. was returned on March 26 following an extradition agreement reached through cooperation between the National Central Bureaus of Interpol in Tashkent and Ankara, the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, and the Turkish migration service. This process highlights the ongoing development of operational collaboration between the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and Turkey.

The Consulate General's statement emphasized that in recent years, practical cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries has been steadily advancing, achieving effective results in combating crime, identifying individuals under international search, and holding them accountable. Currently, operational-search and legal measures continue to identify and apprehend other individuals who have committed various crimes in Uzbekistan and are hiding in Turkey.

The Consulate General reminded that committing a crime in one's home country and hiding in another state's territory does not allow evasion of responsibility, and called on citizens to refrain from any illegal activities. This incident is noted as a significant example of international legal cooperation.
