Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Lesotho have established diplomatic relations. A corresponding communiqué was signed on March 27 at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The document was signed by Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Head of the Lesotho Mission to the UN, Matete Nena.
Lesotho has become the 166th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. This event is seen as a significant step in expanding the international ties of Uzbekistan. During the conversation following the signing, the importance of strengthening close cooperation within the framework of the UN and its specialized agencies was emphasized.
The parties reached an agreement to develop bilateral contacts and explore mutually beneficial areas of cooperation, primarily in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. This agreement marks a new stage in the development of Uzbekistan's cooperation with African countries.
This event is part of Uzbekistan's policy of actively expanding international relations in recent years. Previously, on September 26 of last year, a similar communiqué was signed with Palau in New York, which became the 165th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. This trend reflects the country's efforts to strengthen its position on the global stage.
