The government of Uzbekistan plans to accelerate the development of environmental education, science, and awareness under the "Eco-Culture" project. According to a presidential decree dated March 25, 14 "green" technical colleges will be established in each region of the republic by 2026–2027. This initiative aims to address challenges such as a shortage of specialists meeting international standards in ecology and environmental protection, low levels of environmental consciousness and sustainable habits among the population, and a deficit of personnel capable of implementing innovations and climate technologies in practice.

As reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan on March 23, during a presentation of priority national projects in ecology and environmental protection for 2026–2030, these issues were highlighted. Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, "green technical colleges" will be created in 14 regions, integrating into the Green University system through academic cooperation. These educational institutions will be reorganized considering the environmental, social, and economic characteristics of the regions, with plans to train 10,000 mid-level specialists by 2030.

To enhance the material-technical base and education quality, the colleges will be affiliated with the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies, in coordination with the Agency for Professional Education. Additionally, from 2026 to 2028, the number of degree seekers in ecology, environmental protection, and climate change is planned to increase to 150 individuals. These measures are designed to support environmental sustainability and economic development in the country.
