During an operational event conducted by officers of the State Security Service (SSS) Directorate for Tashkent Region, a lawyer from a legal bureau was apprehended in the act. It was established that he promised to replace a two-year prison sentence, imposed by judicial authorities on a local resident, with a restricted freedom penalty through his acquaintances in the court system.

For this service, the lawyer received 10,000 US dollars. These actions are being treated as corruption and interference in the judicial system, posing a significant threat to legal order and public trust in Uzbekistan.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the lawyer, and investigative actions are underway. The SSS urges citizens to report similar offenses by calling the short number 1520, emphasizing that the confidentiality of the caller is guaranteed.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the integrity of the judicial system and the ethical conduct of legal professionals in the country. Authorities and law enforcement agencies continue to implement stringent measures against corruption, but such cases risk eroding public confidence in justice institutions.
