Amid global supply chain disruptions and geopolitical uncertainty, the government of Uzbekistan is considering using aviation for goods delivery and compensating part of the costs. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhom Norqulov after a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 30. According to him, the president, taking into account the world situation, gave clear instructions for the economic complex, investments, exports, construction, and agriculture.
Norqulov noted that GDP growth for January-March is expected around 7.5%, but the main focus is on the second quarter, which could be decisive for annual indicators. The president demanded rapid decision-making for each sector and region, aimed at mitigating the negative impact of the global situation.
Among measures to ensure supply stability, the use of aviation is being considered. Norqulov stated that if road capabilities are limited, goods can be delivered to the domestic market not only by road transport but also by air freight, which includes compensating certain costs. These measures are expected to help address logistical challenges.
Deputy Prosecutor General Dilmurod Qosimov also spoke about measures to support enterprises. He said the president gave instructions to help enterprises with declining production volumes and restore them, and a task was set to assist districts where production volumes fell by more than 10%.
At the meeting, it was also announced that an additional 2.3 trillion soums and 500 million dollars are allocated for the development of 9 regions, 3.9 trillion soums are directed to local budgets for 33 districts and 330 mahallas, and an equal amount is allocated to support 37 complex districts and 903 mahallas. These measures are aimed at stimulating economic growth.
