The Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has announced an increased risk of avalanches in the republic's mountainous areas and at altitudes above 2000 meters above sea level from April 4 to 8. This threat is attributed to expected precipitation and sharp fluctuations in air temperature.
Uzhydromet urged residents of mountainous regions, vacationers, and drivers traveling in these areas to take precautionary measures. According to the service, avalanches could pose a serious danger to life and property in the mountainous zones.
This warning comes after earlier alerts about possible mudflow and flood events in nine regions of Uzbekistan from April 2 to 6 due to anticipated rains. Together, these two warnings highlight a growing risk of natural disasters in the republic.
